"Posture affects every system of the body – not only the neuro-muscular system (joints, ligaments, bones, muscles and the nerves that move them), but the endocrine system (pituitary, thyroid, adrenal, etc.) and the cardiovascular, circulatory and respiratory system. All of these systems can be directly correlated and related to problems with posture."
~  Nikolass Tinbergen, 1973 Nobel laureate in Physiology/Medicine

Yoga is about having a direct experience of yourself, connecting more deeply to your inner self. Pregnancy provides a uniquely opportunity for this, because in essence this is the journey of pregnancy.  It is a purifying experience.  The process of pregnancy is a journey which draws you inward becoming more and more internal, to the ultimate instinctual energy of childbirth.

Take time out for you.  Deepen the connection to yourself and baby.  Learn nourishing postures, breath awareness and breathing exercise to improve your strength, flexibility, circulation and relaxation, to help you with childbirth and beyond. Learn to trust your body.

The transition to motherhood has utmost significance in a woman’s life so I like to shine the light on this significance and give woman the space to really "be" with themselves.  The more honoured the process, the more relaxed and at peace the woman, the better the outcome for everyone.

You have been chosen as a mother in this lifetime.  You have an innate awareness of the infinite being inside of you.  They have specially-chosen you as their mother and vehicle to be born at this point in time. Your unborn child knows you have all the talents and abilities to enable them to fulfill their destiny.

For absolute beginners or those with some yoga experience.

Learn the foundation of practice and the essence of yoga, so you can confidently practice at home.  Learn nourishing postures, with breath awareness, breathing exercises and deep relaxation.  Reduce tension in your body/mind, to experience greater ease of movement, vitality and meditative bliss.  Learn how this yoga can be integrated into your daily life, in a natural and non-obsessive way, that is most enjoyable and sustainable.

"At every stage of spiritual growth, the greatest ally you have is your body."
~ Deepak Chopra – Ageless Body, Timeless Mind

My Meditation in Movement style yoga is an open invitation to slow down and deepen internal focus, listening more intently for guidance from body and spirit. Learn to practice yoga postures, breath awareness, breathing exercise, deep relaxation, and resting in meditative bliss.

Don’t try to force anything, let life be a deep let go.
See God opening millions of flowers every day without forcing the buds.

The science of physical and mental harmony is known as Hatha Yoga
~  Swami Muktibodhananda

Asanas, or yoga postures, are stretches and movements that are designed to open and release tension in the body, gradually. They encourage flexibility, strength and proper functioning of all systems of the body – skeletal, muscular, glandular, digestive and reproductive systems.  The spine is the focal point of the most asanas, therefore teaching the finer points of correct posture and spinal positioning is an inherent part of a yoga class.  All postures require conscious awareness, steadiness and the ability to surrender to gravity and the tendencies of the mind, which does take practice!

To me yoga is a practice which connects you with your Inner Self, rather than just a superficial physical workout.  The ultimate goal of yoga is to prepare yourself for silent seated meditation, observing your breath and "inner reality".  When you immerse yourself in the breath, meditation just happens. With total surrender to the breath, the animating force in your body, will adjust your body until there is a continuous flow of energy. In this way, the breath is the ultimate teacher. When you begin to detach yourself from the ego and mind by simply observing the ‘stories’ it has created in your head; the go and mind does retreat over time. Through continual surrender, devotion to your breath, alert-ness, present-ness, and mindfulness; you arrive at a state of inner silence, stillness, and bliss, where you are connected. Yet, it is the journey/process that is important, not the final result or destination. There is no mastery in yoga/meditation; it is simply a practice – every minute, every second of the day.

Those who look outward – dream. Those look inward – awaken.
~  Carl Jun

Every moment in our lives is an opportunity for yoga, meditation and getting in touch with one’s Inner Self. We can all extend our yoga practice on the yoga mat into our daily lives towards Self-inquiry, Awakening, and Realization.
